We're deeply grateful for this powerful message of support from M.P.P. Laurie Scott, whose leadership has helped shape Ontario’s anti-human trafficking strategy and legislation:
“I would like to recognize Uprooting Trafficking and the efforts of Tamara Doerksen and her team for organizing this important three-part virtual series. Collaboration with survivors, advocates, law enforcement, and community leaders allows us to work together to change laws. Our shared goal is to ensure that those affected by human trafficking are heard, supported, and protected and that communities are equipped to recognize and respond to this hidden crisis. Through initiatives like Uprooting Trafficking, we can bring this issue out of the shadows and help restore safety and dignity to those affected.”
- Laurie Scott, M.P.P. Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock.
Human trafficking is a multibillion-dollar global industry—and it’s thriving not just overseas, but right here at home.
It affects every kind of community — including our own. In Canada and around the world, survivors are often overlooked or misunderstood, and prevention efforts fall short without clear information, trauma-aware support, and survivor-informed action.
This October, a powerful three-part virtual series invites everyday people to open their eyes, raise awareness, and take meaningful action against human trafficking.
The series, hosted by members of the Women’s Institute, runs Monday October 27, Tuesday October 28, and Thursday October 30 from 7:00–8:00 PM EST online. Each evening offers focused insights from leading voices and lived experiences, designed to inspire informed, community-rooted responses.
